Cheerio Ol' Chap

I've always been a bit of an anglo-phile. It started with Mary Poppins and Bed-knobs and Broomsticks and later on in life it was Hugh Grant and David Beckham. Now that I'm older my anglo-philism has transferred to cycling. I also enjoy a good scone and decent cup of tea. So it is with great pleasure that I present my dream Brit-bike. Not the lightest, but probably the sweetest looking and just a all around classic bike. No snot rockets lobbed from this bike, that's for sure, I'd carry a handkerchief in my brassiere.

I've been looking at Condor bikes for awhile and the Classico keeps dragging my attention back. I like the classic lines and the colors they chose blow my mind. To keep it classic I of course would choose a Brooks Swift, but with Titanium rails, to save what weight I could. And to bring a little Italian to the mix, Campy Athena 11 in aluminum.

The Promised Land

Have I told you how much I enjoy Rapha Products. Well, I love them, and love 'em or hate 'em, that company is genius when it comes to marketing, craftmanship and delivering product to a hungry market. And I am proud to say they have made a devout follower out of me. This weekend my dear sweet hubby and I took a trip up north to San Fransisco for a belated 6 year Anniversary trip. No bikes, that was my anniversary gift to hubby, but I did manage to sneak in a trip to the Promised Land- the Rapha Club. It was better than I thought, everything you could possibly want, and they seemed to have it in stock. Except of course for the one thing hubby wanted, the Anquetil Club jersey. Sorry John, but you will have it by this weekend, the least I could do for the wonderful trip.

We also ambled across the GG bridge to Above Category in Mill Valley. And if I ever win the lottery, that is the first shop I'm going to go crazy in. Pegorreti, Moots, and Parlee oh my! Northern California is quite possibly one of the most beautiful areas in the country, and hopefully I'll be able to put rubber to asphalt up there sometime in the future.

Cuddle Time!

Robot from Red Kite Prayer did his Friday post about absurd predictions for The Tour. His pick to win was Cadel. I don't think that's absurd at all, I always tend to root for him when one of the Schlecks or anyone from Leoperd-Trek for that matter or Garmin-Cervelo is out of the the mix for first.
So maybe he's not my top pick but I really do like Cadel. I like him because he's not afraid to show his cards. Step on his dog- you're gonna get a talkin to or maybe a punch. Win some stripes and little Bilbo Baggins is gonna turn on the water works. Emotion is good, it's human, no need to hide it.

Remember last Tour Andy said he was going to seek revenge on AC. That's good racing, I replayed that interview so many times I had it memorized. Why? Because it's good entertainment, that's why we watch right? Bring on the headbutts and cat fights with wheels. I read in a recent interview that he's NOT going into this year's tour to avenge Little Al. When I read that I must of sounded like a balloon when the air gets let out of it, just deflated. What happened to all his rage? I would think it would of been building up over the year, especially after the positive test. I know I couldn't hold it in, I'd be tweet'n hate mail everyday in broken Spanish to that guy. "Tu asso es mio Cuntador!" I guess we'll find out in a few weeks time if this has just been a ploy or if he really has lost his mojo. I know one thing, he can cut out all that buddy-buddy BS with Al. Cippo was right when he said:

Seeing Schleck and Contador embrace on the Tourmalet after crossing the line and then seeing Contador affectionately pinch Schleck’s cheek during his interview was unreal for me,” Cipollini exclaimed. “Logically, Schleck should have been raging, he had just lost the Tour after all.

Thor Finally Pops It

Thor did it! He won a stage/race wearing his stripes. I can finally sleep soundly tonight.

I like this preview for the TDF because it makes me feel like I'm flying.

Six Years Is Rubber

I have been married six years this weekend and everybody knows the traditional gift for six years is rubber. Before you start thinking my hubby is like Homer (buying Marge a bowling ball with HIS name on it) stop right there. He got me new tires and I didn't even have to drop hints or anything. I bet he got tired of hearing about my flatting stories. I walked 2.5 miles on Thursday because I left my tube on the coffee table and my patch kit is 10 years old, plus my tube of glue was just air. That really happened. So needless to say he got me the perfect gift. I run over so much debris it's ridiculous. I don't aim for it, it just sort of happens upon my wheel. So I was very happy when they came through the door in my hubby's hands.

I rode these fine pieces of German engineering this morning and instantly fell in love with them. Rolled great, grippy, and they put a smile on my face. One con- heaven forbid I have to fix a flat by myself because they are a bitch to get back on. I shouldn't have to worry about that though, not with these babies.

Now here are some things I like this week.
This looks like something I would draw when I was a kid. I guess that's why I like it.

I don't know about these Embrocation shoe covers. My first reaction is 'ah nasty! those look like neon yellow Fred jackets.' But the more I look at them the more I want a pair. Maybe for fall when the dark and dingy days come back.

What Makes My Pedals Go Round

Don't worry I've calmed down since my last post. I took a week off riding and now I am more than ready to get back in the saddle. While I was taking my mini cycling sabbatical I realized how much I love my two-wheeled partner in crime and everything that comes along with pedaling. I had some random photos found around the Internet sitting on my desktop and decided to share them. So here you go, this is what makes my pedals go round:
